I first met Vera when she was a senior citizen in Montreal working on her university degree. She not only graduated, but she was on the Dean's List. Years later, when Vera moved to Tall Pines, we visited her often, took her to Church each week, and waited while a crowd of admirers and friends greeted her. Wherever she went, she was the centre of attention with her winning ways, contagious laughter and her outreach to all. Rest in peace, my friend. Malcolm and I send our love and sympathy to her family.

Picture of Mom and I on New Year's Eve (December 31, 2019), just after her 100th birthday. Both Gavin and Jared were with Sylvie and I for this visit and they entertained Mom with playing clarinet and piano. She was in rapture listening to the music. Sylvie and I would make another visit during February 2020 after which pandemic restrictions to personal visits came into effect mid-March 2020. I am grateful and thankful for my Mom and for the opportunity to visit and sit with her in person on my (last) visit to the Brampton Care Home the end of April 2022. There was a great sense of peace and love during this visit.

Grandma, what a legend. I can still smell the green drinks you would make every morning to jump start your day. There's something to be said with that secret elixir Miss 102. Grateful to have another beautiful Angel watching over us all.
