Obituary of Randy David Grant

Randy David Grant, from Orono, Ontario, born February 16th, 1960, has passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday January 31st, 2019 at Lakeridge Health Centre in Bowmanville after a 5 year battle with COPD. Beloved husband of Donna Grant (Hnatuik) for 33 years, proud father of Maxine and Duncan. Loving son of Lucy Grant and brother of Judy Black (Jerry). Loving son-in-law of Leona Hnatuik and Gordon Hnatuik. Predeceased by his father Sheldon Grant. Randy will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Randy was born in Sudbury, grew up in Sault Ste Marie with a love for music. Known by many for his drumming skills, He was teaching others at the age of 14 at Kilhoran’s Academy of Music in the Sault, was a member of the Sault's Newman Corps of the Navy League, and the Sault Twirlette Drum Corps. He shared his talent in many bands during the 70s and 80s where he developed life long friendships. Randy attended Lake State University, University of Guelph, and Sault College, where he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology. Randy specialized in Reliability Maintenance and worked for companies such as Cross Construction, Niagara Fluid Power, AG Simpson, Molsons, IKO and Cameco. As an outdoor enthusiast, Randy enjoyed his home in Orono where wildlife thrives in his backyard. Many friends and family have great memories of Randy enjoying a bonfire in either his or their backyards. His humor, wit, insight, smile and gentle laugh will always be a part of us. His life here has come to an end and we will miss him deeply, our son, husband, father, our friend. Until we meet again, say hi to Bowie and Rock On. Cremation has taken place. A private gathering to celebrate Randy’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to your local food bank, the Alzheimer's Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
