Obituary of Karen Elaine CAMPBELL

Please share a memory of Karen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

March 26, 1968 - May 3, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Elaine Campbell on May 8th, 2024, at Guelph General Hospital.  Karen peacefully left this world ending a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Karen was born in 1968 to Dennis and Donna (Hawkins) Barry, living her childhood in the town of Erin and later moving to Guelph, Ontario with her husband and soulmate Warren, and her adored children, Arden and Ryan. Karen is survived by her siblings, Chris and Lorrie of Brampton, Blaine and Kelly of Orangeville, Steve of Brantford, and Wanda and Peter of Arthur. She will be fondly missed by her brother-in-law Blaine and her “soul sister” Patsy of Oakville and Neil and Kim of Guelph.

Karen attended Brisbane PS and was enrolled in the French Immersion program, later graduating Erin District HS where she first met her husband to be, Warren. Growing up in Erin, and throughout her life Karen was a sports fan, and was often seen walking downtown Erin with a basketball or in the winter months playing and watching hockey at the local arena. This love of sports was passed on to Arden and Ryan, with family time spent enjoying the Toronto Raptors.

After High School Karen applied her French speaking skills at one of her first jobs with TNT Kwikasair and then later worked as a transcriptionist for a Private Investigating firm. Her most recent position for the past 25 years was with the Waterloo Regional Police Services. Her quick wit and sense of humour made her many friends along the way.

Music was a passion of Karen’s. She rarely missed an opportunity to watch Warren “jam” and together they attended concerts and festivals across Southern Ontario – too many to list!  Karen was most often watching from the dance floor. Through her love of music Karen enjoyed life to the fullest, singing every step of the way.

Her greatest joy was her family, she remained to the end a devoted Wife and Mother. She was a caring sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. Karen was a kind and compassionate friend to many, and her companionship will be greatly missed.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Erin Legion on June 22nd from 1 pm to 4 pm. We hope that family and friends will come together to laugh, cry, and remember just how amazing a woman Karen Campbell was.

Karen would be happy if you were to donate in her memory to “The Danny Michel Ocean Academy Fund”, helping to raise scholarships for the Caye Caulker High School in Belize. While she loved flowers a great deal, she would be honored to support this charity, created by her favourite Canadian musician and songwriter, Danny Michel. A link for the Danny Michel donation page is listed above.

Anyone who knew her will remember her laughter and love of life.

As Karen often said “I Love you to Infinity and Beyond”
