Ruth Anne Doney

November 30, 1948 - December 29, 2023

 

After a long journey of pain and discomfort, Ruth Anne Doney, in her 76th year, passed away peacefully at Matthew’s House Hospice in Alliston Ontario on Friday December 29th, 2023.

 

Ruth Anne was the beloved wife, soulmate and best friend of Jim Doney for 57 years and will be lovingly remembered by their children Susan Haire (Rick), Dan Doney (Debby) and Ruth’s daughter Becky Lightfoot (Dean). Cherished by their grandchildren Sheridan Haire (Jake), Samantha Avery (Chris), Matthew Haire, Tyler and Rachel Doney, Nicole Lightfoot (Bryant). 

 

Ruth Anne was born in Shelburne, Ontario where she resided the rest of her years, except for a brief move to Cookstown. Ruth Anne was the daughter of Stanley and Lena Creamer, both predeceased, and cherished sister of Bernice Berry, predeceased. 

 

Ruth Anne enjoyed a full life with her husband, children, grandchildren, as well as her grand-puppies Khan, Theo and Archie. One of her most favourite hobbies was knitting and crocheting all kinds of sweaters, afghans, socks and doilies. Ruth Anne was an avid crafter attending several craft shows in the area displaying her creative side. She enjoyed playing euchre at the Shelburne Legion every Sunday afternoon where she made some lasting memories and friendships. 

 

A celebration of Ruth Anne’s life will be held at the Shelburne Legion in the back hall, located at 203 William Street, Shelburne ON, on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 from 1pm - 4pm.

 

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers at the Matthew’s House Hospice, who made our journey bearable. It takes special people like them to make the end of life journey less stressful.
