Jacob Kenneth SAWYER

July 12, 1997 - August 31, 2023

Jacob Kenneth Sawyer of Orangeville, ON passed away tragically on Thursday August 31st, 2023. Jake will be remembered by his loving parents Sandra (Selwyn), Darren (Sherry), younger sister Shelby, as well as plenty of extended family, friends & loved ones.

Jake was born in Orangeville on July 12th, 1997 and spent most of his childhood longing for the next adventure. Jake spent most of his summer days camping, fishing and searching for new skate parks. As the winter season hit he would keep himself busy snowboarding with  his closest friends. During high school, Jake participated in a co-op program at Westside Secondary School where he gained his love for wood working. This lead to his career at VanMilligen Construction that was cut short just shy of 10 years. Among his many academic accomplishments, Jake received a High School English award and Citizenship award. During his time at VanMilligen Construction, Jake received a Red Seal certification in carpentry from Conestoga College.

Throughout his life, Jake sure “lived heavy” and “travelled light”. He was sure to always buy the next concert ticket, or Harley Davidson item.. but made sure to work hard to save money. Jake often talked about his future dreams of buying a house out in the countryside that he would be able to build more memories with the ones he loved.

Jake was a giving, caring and selfless soul that would do anything for anyone, including side jobs to help anyone in need. He had many friends that loved him without measure. He was a perfectionist and would describe himself as particular and maybe a little stubborn. He put everything into all that he did and was truly an authentic person that everyone could count on.

He will forever be remembered for his loving smile, bright blue eyes, and huge warm hugs. Jake was someone that was able to relate and connect to so many people of different ages and experiences. If this tragedy has shown us anything, it’s that Jake is truly the person to bring everyone back together with the upmost love and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Orangeville Agricultural Centre (Orangeville Fairgrounds) on Saturday October 7th, from 6pm-12am.
