June 21, 1949 – August 2, 2023

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Annelle Leblanc on Tuesday August 2nd, 2023, surrounded by her family at home, at the age of 74.

Annelle was born on June 21,1949 in Detroit MI.  She graduated Eastern Michigan University in 1971 with a degree in teaching.

In 1972 Annelle met Ron Leblanc and they married in Windsor in 1976.  They went on to have two children, Rachel and Joseph.

Annelle’s early career included teaching, hairdressing, and Canada Post.  In 1983 she was hired to work on the assembly line at the Bramalea Chrysler Assembly plant.  Soon after she began teaching health and safety classes and from there was elected as the zone six workers representative.  This position was later consolidated into the plant union committee secretary position.  This change allowed her to use her incredible organizational skills to support the entire plant committee and membership.  She worked vigorously and was an integral part of the plant bargaining committee through three rounds of collective bargaining.  Her closing union career chapter was to become the first WSIB regional representative; advocating WSIB appeals on behalf of the members of CAW Local 1285.  She retired from Chrysler in 2008.

Annelle is survived by her husband Ron, two sisters Elayne (Dave), Susan (Oren), Sister-in-law Diane (Andy), stepbrother Dan, children Rachel (Mr. Mike) and Joe (Amy), and her four beloved grandchildren Hayden, Sophia, Maddy and Nathan.

She will be missed by many treasured friends; many of which were family in her eyes.  She was always willing to listen without judgement and support in any way possible.  She did not tolerate injustice and worked tirelessly to advocate for many causes big or small.

Cremation has already taken place.  To honour Annelle’s life, family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Mass on Thursday August 10th, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church located at 42 Dawson Road, Orangeville, ON.  A reception will be held at The Alder Arena in the TD Room at 275 Alder Street, Orangeville, ON, immediately following the church service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Orangeville Food Bank are appreciated in Annelle’s memory.
