Lorraine SOLOMAN

Obituary of Lorraine Esther Jane SOLOMAN

Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

In loving memory of Lorraine Esther Jane Soloman who departed this world peacefully on July 16, 2023 in her 65th year, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Lorraine was born September 5th, 1958 at York County Hospital, Newmarket. She was the second child of Walter (deceased 1973) and Rella Crowder (nee Dowdall). Lorraine had 4 siblings: Lauretta Brown (Glen)(Alton, ON), Linda Wilson (Dan)(Cardinal, ON), Dan Crowder (Kim)(Edmonton, AB) and Laurie Crowder (Berwyn, AB). She had 3 children with her husband, Barry Soloman: Mark Soloman, Christopher Soloman (Alyse), Jeffrey Soloman (Nicole).  After their separation, she lived with her common-law with Brian Plester for 35 years. They have a daughter, Cassandra Plester (Colbeck). Lorraine was a very proud 'grammie; to her son Chris' children, Luke and Brooke Soloman.  Lorraine will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine worked for many years in the printing industry on night-shift so that she could be home with her children in the morning.  When her employer sold the business and the new owner moved out of Orangeville, she went back to school and obtained her Personal Support Worker certification. She had a real love for family, children, animals and the elderly. She often nursed stray pets back to health and incorporated some of them into her home. She lived a simple life and followed the 'golden rule'. Lorraine warmly welcomed people into her home and shared food and fellowship.

She will be laid to rest with her father, Walter Crowder at Briar Hill Cemetery, Sutton, ON following cremation. There will be no funeral service or viewing as per her request. In her spirit of generosity to others, donations to your local food bank or pet shelter in lieu of flowers are appreciated.
