Ashton Tanner

May 4, 1996 - March 1, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ashton Tanner.

Ashton is the cherished son of Carissa McKay and Jason Tanner, beloved brother to Shaelyn, Mac, Wynter, and Aurora. Treasured nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend, Ashton never failed to light up the room and keep everybody laughing. He really was an amazing person and people gravitated to his kind energy and easy sense of humour.

Ashton spent his childhood aspiring to be the world’s greatest baseball player, but sadly his skill didn’t measure up to his enthusiasm. Nevertheless, he enjoyed the friendships that he cultivated throughout the years on the diamond and the memories that were made playing rep baseball and umpiring when he would come home from post-secondary.

Ashton attended Fanshawe where he studied Business Marketing. He was well-known for procrastinating until the last minute when he would bang off an A+ essay. He made many great friends while there and decided to take a job in London out of school. He loved his job but was homesick and decided to return to Orangeville to be closer to his friends & family.

Ashton had a great group of friends, many of these friendships began in elementary school. “The Boys” as he would refer to them, were his lifeline. This brotherhood of guys have been through it all. Ashton never passed up the chance to hit a concert, BP for karaoke, or a round on the golf course. They’d get up to the craziest shenanigans.

Sports were a big part of Ashton’s life. From an early age, he could remember stats and player details. He grew up playing hockey and baseball and developed a passion for golf later. Ashton had a temper when his sports efforts didn’t go as planned and was known to throw his equipment in response. He’s broken bats and had to fetch clubs from trees more than once. He recently started fishing with his Uncle Jeremy and has reeled in some impressive catches. This may have proven to be the sport for him.

His contagious laugh, amazing sense of humour, silly faces, beautiful singing voice and complete silliness will forever be remembered. Ashton had time to listen to anyone and would find a way to make any situation the best time ever. He was a perfect sous chef, prepping for any meal that was on the menu. He loved good food and was the most animated eater. He was the Sauce Boss, and felt everything tasted better with BBQ sauce, chipotle mayo, and siracha! Food will never taste as good, the sun will never shine as bright and a laugh will never sound so sweet now that he’s gone.

Forever in our hearts and always in our memories.
