Evelyn Adelle Berry (nee, Jamieson)

July 29, 1937 – December 28, 2022

 

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Mill Creek Nursing Home in Barrie, Ontario on December 28, 2022 in her 86th year.

 

Predeceased by her first husband, Herb Coe. Survived by her husband James Berry, residing in the Dufferin Oaks in Shelburne, the last 5 years.

 

Loving Mother to Gloria Lewis (James McAllister, deceased) and Gladys Walters (Mike).

 

Devoted Grandmother to Sherry Lewis, Cheryl Lewis, Nichole Coe and Amanda Lewis.

 

Dear sister of Mabel McLaren (Lyle, deceased) Sister in Law, Marie Jamieson and Brother in Law Neil Cowling. Predeceased by Sister, Muriel and Brothers Morley, Keith and Reg.

 

Great Grandmother to eleven great grandchildren.

 

Of her 34 years as an educator, Ev started her career teaching at Glencairn School in 1956 with the Osprey Public School Board. She then spent 27 years with Dufferin County School Board, beginning at Silks School in Melancthon, then to Backline School. She was one of the original teachers at Centennial Hylands and taught there for 17 years, before finishing her career with Mono Amaranth Public School Board.

 

In her early retirement years school rooms were replaced with square dance floors and camping. She enjoyed volunteering with different organizations, but her proudest accomplishment was her education and degree achievements and raising her family.

 

A private family service will be held at a later date. Internment to follow at the Shelburne Cemetery.
