Obituary of Robert Frank DANIEL

Robert Frank Daniel September 8th, 1942 - June 2nd, 2022 It is with sad and heavy hearts that we say farewell to our Husband, Father, and Grandpa Captain Robert “Bob” Daniel. He peacefully departed for his final flight on Thursday June 2nd, 2022 at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital at the age of 79. Born in Kingston, son of the late Dorothy and Roland Daniel, loving husband of 57 years to Catherine Violet, devoted father to Jacqueline (Matthew), John (Alida), James (Kari) and Joseph (Stephanie), Grandfather to Noelle, Nico, Macy, Zak, John, Brydon, Evan, Liam, Addison, Emma and Nathan. After high school, while working as a Tool and Die maker for 7 years, he discovered his true passion and learned to fly, which led to an aviation career which took him to all corners of the world. He made his first attempt at retirement in 2002 from a successful career with Air Canada, but that didn’t stick, as his love for aviation led him to Asiana Airlines in Seoul, South Korea as a flight instructor for another 15 years from which he made his official retirement in 2018. Bob was a pilot by trade but had a passion for so many things… Through politics Bob enjoyed being an implicated member of his community and held the position of municipal councilor for many years, as well as both the positions of Reeve of East Luther and Warden of Dufferin County. Bob worked hard, but played even harder. Whether smoothly grooving away on his drums or trumpet in various bands, sailing on Georgian Bay, harness racing across Ontario, trying his hand at gentleman farming, enjoying mulled wine with Catherine at a Christmas market in Germany, taking Sunday drives in the big Ol’ Oldsmobile, or his favourite, just listening to music. All kinds of music. There were very few songs written between 1920-1970 that he couldn’t identify hearing only about 3 notes. Bob knew how to live and enjoy life to the fullest. Bob met Catherine, the love of his life when he was 17. He married his high school sweetheart on September 18th, 1965 and their love story is one for the ages. In 2012 Bob and Catherine completed Bob’s lifelong dream of building a log home on his beloved Compass Lake, a small slice of paradise he purchased when he was only 17 years old. On Compass Lake, Bob always said he could be at peace. Bob was a generous and devoted man who prioritized his family above all else. He positively brimmed with immense pride for his children and grandchildren alike. Bob will forever be in our minds and hearts. Breathe Easy Now Dad.
