Obituary of Glen Gary Downer

Glen Downer from Shelburne, ON passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on March 12, 2022. Glen has been re-united in heaven with Edith Downer (wife), Stanley & Clara Downer (father & mother), Eric Downer (brother), Wilfred & Emily Atkinson (father-in-law & mother-in-law), Harold Atkinson (brother-in law) and his stepson David Downer. Born in 1941 to Stanley & Clara Downer, Glen will be lovingly remembered by sons John and Paul (Kristy) Downer, nephew Wilfred Atkinson and sister-in-law Velma Atkinson. Glen worked in the courier trucking industry for most of his life, beginning in the early days after moving from the farm into Toronto, then in the 70’s in Alberta, and finally, working for Same Day Courier / Day & Ross Trucking in the greater Toronto area during the 80’s up until 1994. Glen was also known for going into ministry with Edith in the 70’s in Western Canada and between the 70’s and 80’s, he worked in the mines in Alberta and Northern Ontario. Since his retirement in 1994, he has committed to praying for individuals in need. Glen was a strong and dedicated prayer warrior, a family man who always worked hard to provide for his family, and a funny guy who always loved joking around. He will be dearly missed by friends and family, and a special thanks goes out to those who have assisted him over the years.
