Obituary of Joan Elizabeth HOUGHTON

Houghton, Joan Elizabeth July 27, 1936 – January 31, 2022 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Joan Elizabeth Houghton. Joan passed away peacefully on January 31, 2022 at 11:57 p.m. at the age of 85. She will be forever missed by her children, Lori Monkman (Neil), Dr. Glen Gordon Roberts (pre-deceased), Kathy Roberts, Sharon Roberts and Hunter (fur baby). Proud and loving grandmother to Kristen (John), Holly (Henry), Bibit (Bryce), Tyler, Mikey, Katelyn (Paul) and Isabella. Proud great-grammy to Natasha, Breyden, Trey, Emily, Hunter, Hayden, Hope, Harper, Raelynn and Thea. Joan will always be remembered by her brother Murray Houghton (Marilyne) and their family Brent (Whitney), Kristy (Barb), Becky (Dan), Charlie, Grace, Liam, Brody, Eamon, Iris and Everett. Proud godmother to Jon and Joanne Houghton. Also missed by her extended children, Trish Roberts, Deyan Adams (Marshall), Kenny (Susie) and their families Karly (Dallas), Bret, Matthew, Josh, Faith, Jewel, Bre, Caleb, Abby and Naomi. She was blessed to have shared 80 years of friendship with her best friend Bev McQueen (Bill). So many fond memories with her colleague, confidant and friend Dr. Mohinder Bhogal. Cherished by her loving friend, Donna and Don Hamilton, Christie Graham, Ruth Davis, John Fyfe and Ineka. Pre-deceased by her parents Charles and Kay Houghton. Mom’s world lit up with her daily visits from her great granddaughter Thea, Thank you Katie and Paul. In mom’s final days she was comforted by her granddaughters effort in travelling to Ottawa to support Freedom Convoy 2022, it meant the world to her. In mom’s memory please remember the freedom they are fighting are those she fought for her entire life. One of mom’s proudest accomplishments in her later years, she studied at York University to become a Doctor of Homeopathy. She had a wealth of knowledge in health alternatives. Such a great loss to our community. Please raise a glass of Pinot Grigio in our mom’s memory, CHEERS! Cremation has taken place. A graveside burial will take place on April 16th, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Meadowvale Cemetery. (7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, ON L6Y 5L5) Following the graveside service Joan's favourite meal of turkey and all the fixings will be served at 1958 Station Road, Cheltenham, ON, everyone is welcome to join.
