Obituary of Martin Richard STUBBS

It is with broken hearts our family announces the passing of a beloved and cherished husband, father and grandfather Martin Richard Stubbs. After a fierce and courageous battle of cancer, our beloved went home to God. He passed away peacefully on April 23, 2020 at Headwaters Healthcare Centre in Orangeville, ON. His beloved wife - June of 56 years, holding his hand, along with Christina Stubbs (Daughter), Martin Stubbs Jr. (Son) and Amy Stubbs (Daughter-in-law) by his side. Devoted and loving Grandfather to Vicki, Tricia and A.J of Bancroft, ON, Son-In- Law Greg Powell (husband of Christina Stubbs), loving Grandfather to Matthew Stubbs and Carter Stubbs of Guelph ON – children of Martin and Amy Stubbs. Martin is survived by his many close friends and family around the world. For many years Dad worked for General Motors of Canada and worked a small farm. Dad loved being busy and you could always find him talking to his many animals on the farm. He always had a story to tell. His stories are passed down today. He loved and talked to anyone, whom he could share how much he loved his wife and family. His grandchildren he loved and always wanted to know what they did, so he can tell anyone who would listen - how proud he was of them. He was proud to be called a Newfoundland Dad, as he loved his Newfies – Noah and Gracie. As a proud Newfie Dad for over 30 years, he enjoyed showing his and mom’s accomplishments, many awards and ribbons. Recently Sarah, a sheltie came in to his life and he was teaching her new tricks. Dad’s understanding in faith and commitment to family and friend was the centre of his life. He enjoyed family time, watching movies, seeing the many birds that would come to their back kitchen window, teaching and learning everyday was important to him. In the recent years as the grandchildren were growing up, he would teach them about the farm animals and how important it was. He called on a regular basis, always wanting more and always talking, even if it was just to hear his families voice. Family was important to Dad, always. His kind, gentle nature, along with a hug and snuggle, with a ready to be there spirit, will be greatly missed. We would like to send a special thank you to the many doctors and nurses whom have helped Dad. Most recently the Nurses at Headwaters Healthcare Centre in Orangeville, ON, in E-Wing – we thank you. Condolences for the family or donations to Headwaters Healthcare Centre or Humane Society would be appreciated. Celebration of Dad life will happen later this year, after the pandemic subsides. A private family service has taken place. In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. has been given the honour to serve the Stubbs family.
