Passed away peacefully on Sunday November 20, 2022 in Mono at the age of 88. Beloved husband to Marie Villers (pre-deceased Dec 2016). Dear father of Earl Maltby, Garry (Robin) Maltby, Dwayne Maltby (Georgia), Debbie Sherwood, Paul Sherwood (Priscilla), Janet Yeo (Jim) and Peter Sherwood.

Carman was born on November 11, 1934 in Brampton, Ontario to the late Margaret and Delmar Maltby.  He was the oldest of four children and is survived by his siblings Lois (Don) Herbert, Eileen (Wayne) Bell and John (Debbie) Maltby.

Carman married the love of his life Marie Villers in Las Vegas on August 20, 1990. Carman lived in Georgetown, Erin, Orangeville and they retired at Maple Leaf Acres in Fergus.

Carman and Marie enjoyed travelling, casinos, bingo, bus trips, country music and special occasions with family. They were known for their feasts for Thanksgiving and Christmas where family and friends were always felt welcome.

Carman was an avid hockey goalie even being drafted to the NHL that he turned down. His hockey nickname was “Flash” to which he opened a taxi business in Georgetown naming it “Flash Cab” and his motto was “will be there in a flash”.  Carman then changed his career to work at Steens Dairy in Erin as a Milk delivery driver, taking cartons of milk to the schools and residence within the community. It was at Steens that he met Marie and where they both retired from.

He had a passion for gardening and grew the biggest marigolds from seed and enjoyed attracting and feeding birds. He also enjoyed a nice eggs benedict from Angel’s diner or a dinner from Swiss Chalet.

He will be missed by his 16 grandchildren Adam, Mark, Brett, Cam, Brandon, Aaron, Kevin (Stacey), Glen, Kendra, Trevor, Kristi, Tyler, Kelli, Kody, Danny and Amber. He was a great-grandfather to 10.
