Obituary of John Earl GILES
John Earl Giles
October 24, 1947 - September 4, 2022
Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not. John went home to be with Jesus, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He fought the good fight, always being strong and brave.
Beloved husband of 54 years to Lois Giles (White). Loving and cherished father to Jennifer Shephard (Don) and Jason Giles (Tracy). Much loved Grandad of Chad Shephard, Delaney Shephard, Reese Shephard, Madilynn Giles and Brock Giles. Absolutely adored Great Grandad of Anjre Don Shephard. Dear brother of Susie Goltz and Roger Goltz.
Predeceased by his mother Madeline Goltz (1975), and grandparents Pearl and Edward Meade. John will also be greatly missed by his stepfather, Eric Goltz, his cousin Gary Fyles and his fishing buddy and lifelong friend Jim Wadden, as well as many other relatives and many friends.
John was a Hero to his family, someone we all aspire to be like. He was the owner of Orangeville and Shelburne Gulf in the 80’s and he also loved serving his community as a volunteer Firefighter on Orangeville Fire Department. There's nothing he loved more than being with his family and spending time on the Gull River, Minden. He will be missed beyond measure.
Funeral Service will take place at In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. - 28 Main Street, North. Grand Valley, Ontario on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. The Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to Service Time.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Aboo and the oncology Clinic at Grey Bruce Health Services - Owen Sound, Care Partners, Closing the Gap, Dr. Kelly Fenn and associates, Owen Sound Paramedics and Fire Department who came numerous times to help, and Chapman House for their compassion and excellent care of John.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in John’s name to Chapman House or Grey Bruce Health Services - Owen Sound.
