To Sadie and all the family.
John and I served together in the Royal Engineers in Germany in the early 1960s. We were good friends and enjoyed some good times together as young soldiers.
I lost touch after he emigrated to Canada but we reconnected in the last 10 years and swapped memories of our times in Robert's Barracks in Osnabruck.
Please forgive the late gesture but I was completely unaware of John's passing.
My deepest condolences. The world's a poorer place without my old friend.

My Papa was the smartest man I ever knew. Taught me many wisdoms I live with everyday. He was also a funny man, so much so I sometimes thought he didn’t think he was being funny, it was just natural , and his way of doing things.
Some of my earliest memories are with him. Sitting in the garden while he picked vegetables , my first sip of beer “ I’ll never drink that “ I said, Papa just laughed.
It’s always in hindsight we realize how important and meaningful family are to us. Every time we meet , There’s always the chance it’s the last and there’s no way to know that. I’m grateful he got to meet my girlfriend and in that short interaction, even she knew he was a good man.
Peaceful travels to the beyond Papa. Rest easy
