Obituary of Marjorie Ann MATHERS

Marjorie Ann (Peavoy) Mathers January 28, 1947 - April 7, 2022 “Marj” Marjorie Mathers passed away on the morning of April 7th, 2022. Raised in Alton, ON by her parents Ken Peavoy and the late Nora (Early) Peavoy. Marj loved spending time with family and many friends. She loved to dance, and was an exceptional party planner. She loved travelling and camping (in style). The casino was a favourite past time of hers. She loved working in the garden and creating beautiful flower beds for the birds and butterflies. In her younger years she liked to play baseball and broomball and achieved many dart trophies. She loved to watch the Canadian Curling teams on television. Many of us have enjoyed her knitting creations over the years not to mention the pickling and of course the infamous potato salad. Marj was always well put together when she went out but could always be found at home lounging in the most comfiest of fleece jammies. Marj worked in many different jobs throughout her life but was probably the most rewarded by her days in nursing at the senior homes and her days as a full time mother. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Marj is predeceased by her mother Nora. Marj is survived by her father Ken Peavoy. Her husband of 54 years John Mathers. Her children Michelle (Jim) and Trevor (Tammy). Her grandchildren Brady, Samantha (Devon), Rayne and Reagan. Her great grandchildren Raeya and Cyrus. Her siblings Jean Marie, Larry (Susan), David (Arlene), John (Sandy), Judy (Ray), Barb, Gwen (Bill), Shirley (Roy), Gwen (Jack) and Bernice (Glen). She will always be remembered by her many nieces and nephews and great friends. We will be celebrating the life and times of Marj on Sunday, April 24th, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 449 in Alton where she spent many years volunteering for the Ladies Auxiliary.
