Obituary of Karl DEROOY
In Loving Memory of Klaas (Karl) DeRooy
September 16, 1930 – December 15, 2021
Karl was born in Boskoop in the Netherlands and moved to Canada when he was 24 years old. He settled in the Bowmanville area where he met Anna and they married in Brampton on July 19, 1958
Karl is preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia DeRooy and his great-granddaughter Willow Stanley.
He is survived by; his wife Anna (VanderSchaaf) DeRooy. Son Leonard (Ann) and their family Lindsay DeRooy (Kallym, Clarissa, Adeline), Alison (Kendal) Wabeke, Michael (Anne) DeRooy, and Jacob (Sara) DeRooy. Son Philip (Monique) DeRooy and their family Jordan (Kendra) DeRooy (Barrett, Huxley), and Natasha (Devon) Stanley (Bohdan, Kobe). Son Peter (Karen) DeRooy and their family Joshua DeRooy, David (Brianna) DeRooy (Elinor), and Victoria DeRooy.
Karl enjoyed working as a builder with his own business. As a master carpenter, he could envision complicated designs and renovations of older homes. He could fix almost anything
As a child, he owned a kayak and used it to navigate the canals in the Boskoop area. After the war, he served time in the Dutch army and drove a Sherman (USA/Canadian) tank which had been left in the NL after WWII. He enjoyed kayaking and canoeing and would often take Anna for a long canoe ride at Little Europe.
The DeRooy Family thanks all family and friends for their love and support during this most difficult time.
A Church memorial service will be held on Saturday December 18, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the CrossPoint CRC.444 Steeles Ave W. Brampton
