Obituary of Daniel Talan TRAFFORD

On Sunday October 31, 2021 (the day after his younger brother’s birthday, and just four days before his milestone sixteenth birthday) all afternoon Daniel had been working very hard to try to fix his motorized bicycle in preparation for school the next day. He was so excited when he got it done he couldn’t wait to take it for a quick test run just before we went to take his younger brothers trick or treating. He left on the shoulder of the road around dusk in a state of complete bliss and about one min down the road was tragically struck by a car and was killed. He didn’t see it coming and was killed instantly, feeling nothing and was the happiest he ever was, thinking of his birthday and license and getting the bike going! The wonderful paramedics and doctors tried so hard to revive him but to no avail. They gave it their all as if he was their own. And I for one definitely send my love to each and every one of them for the efforts they put out there. They tried so hard. If you think your job is hard, stop and think about the effects these kinds of tragic events have on them. To the individual who had the great misfortune to be the one who struck Daniel, I feel for you. If it were me I would feel awful. This poor individual is going to have to live with this for the rest of their life. I am crying for you. My heart breaks for you. You are welcome anytime. You need healing. I would also like to mention how amazing the community has been. How genuinely comforting it is to have so many people who resonate with our loss and have come with meals, prayers and well wishes. Thank you to all of you special “rednecks” I love all of you so much. You are amazing. I now know why it was always so easy for Dan to show love. How could you not when surrounded by friends like that? Thank you to all of the beautiful souls at EVAC church in Erin without you, I wouldn’t be able to function right now. You have all given us so much support and genuine love of Christ. I love you all so much. Daniel was a brilliant minded boy. He loved to tinker and learn how things worked. He had an amazing talent with huge knowledge of anything mechanical. He loved to cook and was really good at it. He regularly took over meal time at home for his very appreciative family. He was funny and if someone was hurt or sad he would always try to make them laugh and feel better. Daniel loved being a big brother and claimed both Nathan and Cameron as “his” when they arrived. He was always doing something for other people. From doing tire and oil changes to mowing the lawn to switching the motor on the rototiller (at age 12) and retrofitting the brackets. If there was a task or problem that Daniel saw needed done or that he had any inkling of an idea of how to do it he was already doing it (whether you wanted him to or not). You didn’t even need to ask. Daniel was getting very good working on the forge making his knives for friends and family. He loved to play guitar and was starting to get really good. He was learning to do finger picking and was in the process of learning “Wish you were here”. Daniel had God held deeply in his heart and CLEARLY had it down pat. He knew how to love fully and deeply and truly. If there is anything we can take away from this is that if every one of us loved the way he did, this world would be a damn near perfect place. Please love like he did. Go out of your way to love deeply and truly. Daniel I love you with all my heart. You finished well. You be with God and I will see you again one day in heaven my sweet, sweet boy. I love you! Even in death you are still looking out for me.
