Obituary of Angel GALEA

Angel Galea January 30, 1936 - August 5, 2021 Heaven has gained another Angel. Hadidu, The Maltese Falcon, Angie, Mr. Galea, The Drifter … However, you knew him, you know he was truly one of a kind. Ange was born in Naxxar, Malta in 1936 and emigrated to Canada when he was a teenager. He was predeceased by his parents Victor and Karmena Galea and brothers John (Censina) and Sam (Josephine), and sister Doris (Joseph). He is survived by his sister Victoria Azzopardi (Anthony) and his beloved nieces and nephews and their families in Malta, Australia, and Canada. His family meant everything to him, as did he to them. He is forever held lovingly in the hearts of his children, Michele (Philip Buchanan), Patty (Mike Wagner), Mike (Julie Galea), Marie (Ken Baskey). Ange was a loving grandfather to Dashiell, Harper, Tipitina, Theodora, Jesse, Maverick, Sydney, Jamie (Jessica), Dylan (Megan), Matt (Jessica), Zach, Lucas, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Tajon, and Anthony. His great grandchildren brought him great joy, Payge, Rylan, Madisynn, Aralynn, Talon, Oliver, Rowen, all dear to his heart. His faithful pet posse, Duke, Storm and Lily (Nellie to Ange) surely must feel his absence. Our family thanks the Phillips family and everyone at Pure Metal Galvanizing. Ange had a long and distinguished career there and loved his work. Special thanks to The Vera Davis Centre in Bolton, where Ange enjoyed the company of friends and the wonderful staff at his day program and on covid era Zoom calls. Ange had a love for wrestling, trucks, classic cars, casinos, coffee, cards, cowboy boots and country music. It’s only fitting he has a country song written about him. His daughter Michele and her musical partner Rusty wrote this (with Ange supplying the inspiration and quotes). “Used To Be a Truck Driving Man” Used to be a truck driving man Drive that 18 wheeler the best that I can Driving on the roads of this Ontario land Used to be a truck driving man I miss the freedom of the open road 18 wheels and many a mile to go Once you pass Oshawa you don’t know what you’ll meet Cross the Montreal border the snow is axle deep You have to push the snow with your bumper If you wanna see the street That’s the life of a truck driving man. I miss the freedom of the open road 18 wheels and many a mile to go Miss the friends I made at PMG Each and every one of them is like family to me I worked hard in the yard and gave it all I had That’s the life of a truck driving man Online condolences may be made at www.imfunerals.com In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. has been given the honour to serve the Galea Family.
