Obituary of Georgia Fraser KILFOYLE

Georgia Kilfoyle (nee Rumble) August 9, 1944 – May 16, 2021 With grace and courage, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday May 16th surrounded by family. Georgia is survived by her children Megan McNally (Mark) and Daryn Kilfoyle (April), sister Jennifer Hatfield (Simon), her brothers Lance and Bob Rumble (Lynn), and her grandchildren Jackson, Abbey, Jessica and Isabel. She leaves behind loving cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Georgia was born in Barrie in 1944 and grew up in Toronto. During the first six years of her life she traveled with her parents, Janet and Robert to live in Singapore and then went on to live in South Africa before returning to Toronto. In total, Georgia attended 13 different schools, eventually attending Carleton University to become a qualified high school English teacher. In her 20’s she completed an epic overland trip across multiple continents, enhancing her love for travel, on route to teaching in Australia where her son Daryn was born. Returning to Canada saw the birth of her daughter Megan. While at home with her children, Georgia found time to become a successful entrepreneur with Mary Kay Cosmetics. When her children grew up she returned to her first passion, teaching. Georgia loved to ski in the Rockies, ride horses in the hills around King township and was an avid sailor. Georgia planted her feet on five different continents. These trips with wonderful friends and family gave her life such happiness. Her joy was complete when spending time with her four grandchildren, taking photographs of beautiful flowers, sunsets and far away places. Georgia was a kind, warm and patient soul who always sought to make others feel heard, valued and respected. She adored the birds and the changing seasons on her walks around Lake Ontario, and during her illness drew strength from the love and generosity of family and the dear friends who would join her. The family wishes to thank the remarkable healthcare teams who provided care and deep compassion throughout this journey. In lieu of flowers we are gathering donations for a memorial bench to be placed on Georgia’s favorite walk in Humber Bay Park East on the edge of Lake Ontario. This will give joy to many and be a lasting legacy. A celebration of life is planned for a time when Covid restrictions are lifted in late summer or early Fall. As we wait for a chance to celebrate together, pour yourself a cup of tea in remembrance. Bench donations can go to “Commemorative Lakeside Bench for Georgia” on GoFundMe.com (https://gofund.me/f97ab14b)
